Ecdyonurus forcipula

Larva

  -    . . .

  - Order Ephemeroptera
  - Family Heptageniidae
  - Genus Ecdyonurus
  - Species forcipula

According to the literature this species privileges streams that are neither too cold nor too fast but it can adapt to diverse habitats. I often found it in the alps and central Europe in quite cold and fast moving waters.

The colour of the nymph is black to dark brown, with distinct white spots and stripes distributed as follows:

Large white spots on Urotergites 1,2 and 8,9

Distal third part of the femura is white. Tarsa are white, distally brown.

White sub-circular spot in the middle of the forehead and white spots on the pronotum.
