Till 2 decades ago large rivers fly fishing was in the best case conceivable when it goes to
luring salmons. However the unstoppable force of the evolution has slightly changed this concept
as we went along with the history of fly fishing. Nowadays nobody is surprised by someone casting
a huge stremer on pikes or chasing asps amid the rapids of river Rhine.

fa, la pesca a mosca nei grandi fiumi era per lo piu' concepibile quando si trattava di perscare
salmoni. La forza irrefrenabile dell'evoluzione ha pero' cambiato questa concezione. Oggigiorno
nessuno si sorprende piu' di tanto vedendo qualcuno lanciare grossi streamer tentando lucci o
cacciando aspi nei correntoni del fiume Reno.

And even if 20 years ago there were already the pioneers that were going to this direction, we
can today assert that it is no longer a matter of breaking new ground to succesfully lure a giant
catfish (silurus glanis) or even carps. I can still remember the discussions in the pasts, during
the 80s, when specialized magazine were arguing that soon fly fishing may well "degenerate" into the
use extra fast sinking line, maize grain pattern, acustin strike indicator, the sort of cast and wait
for the fish to bait. Well, history has shown that the essence of fly fishing can be maintain even when
tackling this unusual species, of course the prerequisite are always to find the proper conditions.
The rest is only Fly Fishing, observation, intuition and mastering the "read the water" paradigm.
Anche se ai suoi tempi esistevano pioneri che sondavano i confini della pesca a mosca,
possiamo oggi asserire che prendere siluri o carpe a mosca non e' piu' solo materia per
eccentrici innovatori. Ancora ricordo le discussioni sulle riviste specializzate di quei
tempi, in cui si discuteva se chi tentasse carpe a mosca avrebbe presto adottato code ultra
affondanti e pescato con imitazioni del chicco di granturco, usando il campanellino per
segnalare eventuali abboccate. Come abbiamo visto, le cose si sono evolute diversamente.
L'essenza della pesca a mosca si e' mantenuta anche andando incontro a specie di pesci non
propriamente ortodosse, naturalmente premesso che si verifichino le condizioni opportune.
Il resto appartiene solo alla pesca a mosca, che e' fatta di osservazione della natura,
intuizione e capacita' di leggere l' acqua.
