I collected this specimen from a cold and clear mountain stream at about 1100 m. above see level.

That day there was a moderate hatch of E.alpicola during the warm afternoon. I could observe several subimagos swiftly flying away from the whirling surface as they emerged.

The E.alpicola is a typical summer mayfly and hatches from May till end of August
