Last winter thirty tons of dead fish were washed ashore in the inner lagoons of the island Rügen. The island is famous for the large and numerous pike that thrive in the (moderate) salt water.
The north coast of Algarve is a scenic area: impressive cliffs are set with beautiful beaches. A destination for surfers and sun-bathers. Beaches like Arrifana and del Clerigo are fantastic and renowned places.
In the examined stretch of river the dominant order is the mayfly. Among the plentitude of larvae I could identify five different species.
The Mecklenburg Lake Plateau is a well-known place for coarse anglers and we could not find any information about fly fishing. Equipped with belly boat and fly rod we explored the area.

The best time for the 'Makos' of the flat lands, from the end of April until June and with May being the top month. To be considered in our personal 'Mako' category chub (Squalius cephalus) are to be over 50 cm.
