With the experience gathered, I learnt not underestimate what I call the "undone snags". These are perceived by the angler as the fly was hitting a weed or the bottom, a short jerk that too often is left disregarded. If we have been casting there and we had no snag before, hence when this happens in likely absence of underwater obstacles, this is often a signal that a pike has bitten the tail of our streamer.
